About Campaign

The Giving Methodist is an initiative to gather and galvanise Methodists to perform acts of love. It traditionally takes place during the season of Lent, a period of reflection for Christians - because giving is part of a life that exemplifies Christ.

The Giving Methodist is spearheaded by the Methodist Church in Singapore, CAC, TRAC and ETAC, and supported by the Social Concerns Arm of the Methodist Church, Methodist Welfare Services.

As the effects of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic wear on, many of us may be feeling the strain ourselves. Yet these circumstances are even more precarious and dire for the vulnerable in our communities. Many disadvantaged families are falling further behind in meeting basic needs such as food, shelter, and healthcare. Families that had sparse savings or experienced a loss in income are now facing the reality of food insecurity.

As a Methodist community, let us arise especially in these extraordinary times to persevere together in doing good for those in need.

About the Charity

Founded 41 years ago in 1981 and registered as an Institution of a Public Character, Methodist Welfare Services (MWS) is a multi-service organisation that manages 21 centres and outreach programmes across Singapore.

We serve people in need regardless of their race and religion. Our critical services support low-income and/or distressed families, children from low-income families, at-risk youths, the destitute, sick and/or frail elderly, and the socially isolated.

We enable all to have life to the full by reducing poverty, alleviating the strains and stresses of modern life, helping the elderly to age in place and live with dignity, nurturing the potential of disadvantaged children and rehabilitating at-risk youths.

Fundraising can help to raise more and change more lives.
