Each dollar we receive is carefully channelled to where it is needed and can bring about the greatest impact to our beneficiaries.
Mdm Julia Silveraj, 38, lost her husband to pneumonia, consequently struggling to raise her two sons alone. In the past year, she managed to save $1,800 through the MWS Family Development Programme, a debt clearance and savings matching programme. She hopes to use it to help with her sons' education.
Every year, we aim to help even more families like Mdm Silveraj's.
In the last 2 years, we set up 5 new MWS Senior Activity Centres, and a second nursing home, so your donation now helps 11,000 beneficiaries.
With increased services, our costs have risen by 42%, resulting in a deficit of almost $1m in FY17/18. Another deficit of $2m is estimated for the past FY. Our current unrestricted reserves do not cover our operating costs for a year.
MWS Bethany Nursing Home has embarked on a Care Re-Modelling programme that is expected to be completed in 2020. The re-modelling project aims to provide a home-like and dementia-friendly environment for our residents.
We are opening a new Family Service Centre branch in Buangkok. The Centre needs new staff and facilities to function effectively and to better serve the families in this growing neighbourhood community.
