The JASS Gala 2022 is held in support of Singapore jazz, and will also commemorate Jeremy Monteiro's 45th career-anniversary and UNESCO International Jazz Day.

International Jazz Day falls on 30th April, the day of our gala, and celebrates jazz's role of uniting people from around the world. In light of the upheavals the world has experienced over the last two years, there seems no better time than now to highlight jazz's capacity for bringing people together, as well as JASS' role in uplifting the Singapore community and bringing comfort to our global audiences through our music.

With the support of our donors and partners, JASS has remained steadfast in our mission to promote jazz in Singapore despite the challenges of the pandemic. We have kept both our orchestras going, provided work for local jazz musicians, continued our JASS Music Scholarships to nurture local jazz talents, resumed our signature youth development programme, the Lion City Youth Jazz Festival, and delivered virtual and hybrid presentations of our concerts to the community. We also launched the JASS Crisis Fund to help local jazz musicians impacted by crisis.

Our efforts to spread the joy of jazz are more imperative now than ever. We seek your support of the gala to raise much-needed funds to sustain our programmes.

On this special occasion of International Jazz Day, help us to celebrate the extraordinary human spirit of jazz in Singapore!

About the Charity

Jazz Association (Singapore), or JASS, was founded in September 2016 with the aim of promoting the participation, engagement, and excellence of jazz in Singapore. In March 2017, we were accorded charity status and subsequently attained IPC status in November 2018.

Our vision is to be a centre of excellence in jazz in Singapore, to bring the joy of jazz to people in Singapore from all walks of life and across diverse communities, and to make Singapore a leading global city of jazz.

Our mission is to play a strong part in lifting the Singapore jazz scene to new heights by:
1. Forming a core pool of established, professional-level local jazz musicians and facilitating continuing education in jazz
2. Leveraging jazz as a unifying force to promote interaction, cohesion and inclusiveness among our diverse communities in Singapore
3. Playing a major role in bridging the needs of the audience with those of the jazz practitioners and other arts groups' objectives
4. Making Singapore a nexus for collaborations between Singaporean and international jazz musicians
5. Developing Singapore into a vibrant city of jazz for Singaporeans, residents and visitors alike
6. Supporting eligible local jazz musicians impacted by crisis with short-term financial aid*

*In July 2020, we added a new mission pillar.
