Local cyclists will be riding 400KM over 2 days and dedicating the ride to terminally ill patients.

On the second week of December, cyclists from the Epic Cyclist group will be stretching their personal limits, to cycle an average of 12 hours a day, to complete a gruelling 400KM over 2 days under the sweltering Singapore heat, in support of HCA Hospice Care and the patients they serve.

Cyclists will be doing a round-island ride, paying tribute to HCA's home hospice team. HCA's clinical team visits terminally ill patients in the patients' own homes across the island, to offer care and support to patients and their families, by helping patients manage pain and other symptoms, as well as supporting their families through grief and bereavement.

“2021 has been yet another difficult year. And more so for terminally ill patients who are more vulnerable. While I may not be able to do much, I believe that every dollar that I raise, will help make the end-of-life journey better for terminally ill patients,” shared Annie, one of the cyclists participating in the ride.

While we are unable to add days to the lives of the terminally ill, we can certainly add LIFE to their days, by enabling patients to receive professional and compassionate end-of-life care at home, in familiar surroundings and amongst family.

About the Charity

HCA Hospice Care (HCA) is Singapore's largest home hospice provider and has been a registered charity since 1989. The organisation provides comfort and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses regardless of age, religion, ethnicity, nationality and financial status.

We understand the medical and psychological needs of patients, caregivers and their families. By managing our patients pain and other symptoms with specialised care and support, we enable them to spend their last days at home, in comfort and dignity, with their families and loved ones.

Additionally, we care for the caregivers by providing them with psychosocial support, practical training, and advice at all hours with our 24/7 hotline.

As all our services including home hospice service for adults are provided free-of-charge to all patients under our care, we rely on donations to support what we believe is a basic right: to die with dignity.

With your contribution and commitment to helping us, we are confident of achieving our goal to adding life to the days of patients with life-limiting illnesses.
