Mdm N is a senior in her sixties. She had her influenza and pneumococcal vaccination done early this year. When COVID-19 pandemic started in Singapore, she, unfortunately, caught the virus. Although the 2 vaccines she had administered do not protect her against COVID-19, they helped to decrease her chances of getting influenza and pneumococcal infections in the hospital as well as in the community. She has fully recovered and has been discharged.

Established in 1821, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) is Singapore's largest acute tertiary hospital with 1,700 beds. Every year, about 1 million Singaporeans benefit from medical care delivered by its 800 specialists. The SGH Needy Patients Fund helps patients who need financial assistance by providing support for basic and critical care requirements such as interim financial help for dialysis, equipment, consumables and treatments that are not covered under MediFund. The fund tides our patients over difficult times so that they can focus on recovery until alternate funding sources from the community or charities are available on a long-term basis.

SowCare - the charity arm of The Bible Society - has set up Safe Sound Sleeping Places (S3P) for the homeless at [email protected] House, 7 Armenian Street, and housed ten homeless individuals, providing them with the care they need. Through this initiative to serve the rough sleepers during the COVID-19 situation, we have been raising funds and collecting in-kind donations to provide them with holistic care through basic essentials, while working to provide them with a permanent roof over their heads and job opportunities. SowCare has been working closely with MSF in setting up these S3Ps.

We are a group of 31 SUSS student volunteers for Rainbow Centre, an organization which provides education for children with special needs. We serve by providing classroom support for the teachers in Rainbow Centre, host fundraising events as well as curate meaningful activities for the children. Due to the Covid-19 situation, Rainbow Centre has not resumed having volunteers on campus to provide classroom support. Hence, Project Colours aims to collaborate with Rainbow Centre to raise awareness for children with special needs and raise funds for the new campus through selling DIY items and limited edition Pilot Pens, as part of the Building For Community campaign.

'ROOM AT THE TABLE' FOR STUDENTS WITH PHYSICAL AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY is a fundraising project by SAWL to raise funds for the SAWL SCHOLARSHIP FUND. The fundraising project is anchored on this music video which appeals to Singapore residents to join in and make donations to the Fund. The key lead featured in the music video is 18 year old Muhammad Daniel Bin Abdullah, who has intellectual disability, and who received the SAWL Scholarship of $2,000 in 2019. Daniel studies at MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School and stays with his siblings and parents in a two-room flat.
