Georgina Chin for ACRES
Our Campaign Storyends 08 Jan 2016, 12 AM
Instead of buying me jewellery, or taking me out for a nice meal, I requested my husband get me a camera. This turned out to be the starting point of my love for photography and nature, which I turned into a book titled 'Birds in my Backyard'. Every single dollar from the book went straight towards the Prison Fellowship Singapore.
This December, I am raising funds for ACRES. They rely heavily on public support and contribution to continue their mission of ending the exploitation of animals. This includes funding rescue efforts and caring for rescued wildlife, some of which have been illegally imported into Singapore.
So often, we are oblivious to the natural world around us and don't realise the importance of our surroundings - wildlife that is right in front of us.
ACRES is a pioneering Singapore-based charity, founded by Singaporeans in 2001 with the aim of advocating for an end to animal cruelty in Asia.
ACRES has six focus areas: Tackling Wildlife Crime, Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Addressing Zoo Animal Welfare, Humane Education, Community Outreach and Promoting Cruelty-Free Living.
