About Campaign

ends 30 Jun 2021, 11:59 PM
It is International Guide Dog Day (IGDD) once again! Let's celebrate together the hard work of our guide dogs and the dedicated professionals behind our guide dog teams.

As the only organisation in Singapore that provides guide dogs, your support will make life-changing transformation to our clients who hope to have increased mobility and freedom; it will also support our outreach and advocacy efforts to increase the awareness and acceptance of the use of guide dogs to build a more inclusive society for the visually impaired community.

We currently have six working guide dog teams and six clients waiting to be paired. We rely mostly on donations to fund our work, and every dollar you donate brings us closer to our goal.

Join us to celebrate IGDD this April to June, as we spotlight the amazing role these endearing animals and their dedicated professionals play in the lives of the visually impaired community. Stay tuned for further updates on this campaign on our social media pages.

Your donation will be matched by Tote Board $1 for $1, meaning when you donate $100, we will receive $200 in total!

About the Charity

Based on 2015 Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) findings, there are more than 300,000 people with sensory (blind and deaf) and physical disabilities in Singapore. Out of this, it is estimated 50,000 residents are suffering from vision loss. But only 5% out of 300,000 are gainfully employed. In addition, with the prevalence of diabetes, myopia and aging population, there is an increasing number of people with vision loss who need our services.

At Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd (GDS), we believe that people with vision loss should not be limited by their disability. We aim to enhance the quality of life for people with vision loss through a range of rehabilitation programmes. Since our inception in 2006, our services have grown beyond providing guide dogs to include teaching people with vision loss the skills needed to live independently, and working with community stakeholders to build a supportive society for the visually impaired.

We operate with limited resources, and are grateful for your gifts. Please donate generously to enable us to continue our services and provide more guide dogs to people with vision loss. All direct donations of minimum S$10 are eligible for 250% tax exemption.

Auto-monthly donations are now available. If you are thinking of setting aside an amount for charitable causes in your Will, contact us for a chat.
