About Campaign

ends 16 Oct 2022, 11:59 PM
The Clean Plate Campaign was started in 2013 with 5 schools participating. This was in conjunction with World Food Day a global movement to end hunger and reduce food wastage. It was aimed at raising awareness of minimising food waste and its environmental and societal impact and inculcating the young with the habit of mindful eating. In 2021, we worked with 45 schools and 14 preschools and counted over 104,000 clean plates!

This year, we would like to invite you to join us as we inculcate the value of saving food and reducing food waste among students. We ask you to pledge to donate to Food from the Heart to reach the target number of 50,000 clean plates during the campaign period, from 4 July to 16 October 2022.

Participating schools and FFTH will jointly organise assembly talks for the entire school and/or sharing sessions with teachers/student leaders. Teachers and parent volunteers will be on-site during
recess hours to engage students and canteen stallholders. Schools may conduct projects related to minimising food waste.
Key messages are:
- buy and sell appropriate portions
- think before asking for an upsize
- the importance of finishing one's food
- the impact of food waste in the world and in Singapore
- treatment of food waste in Singapore
The aim is to encourage students and teachers to do their part and make a conscious effort to finish their food.
