Artist: Mdm Leong Lin Foon
Medium: Chinese Calligraphy Wood Carving
Dimension: 45cm x 25xm x 2cm

Mdm Leong Lin Foon combines traditional Chinese calligraphy with wood carving to present a new art form. The NAFA alumni has had her works exhibited in China, Japan, Korea and Singapore. The Chinese characters on the above wood carving reads Le Tian Zhi Ming, which, as Mdm Leong puts it, means Don't Worry, Be Happy. And that is the attitude and mentality that Mdm Leong hopes our elderly residents and our stakeholders will adopt.

* Donors can claim Tax Exemption on the difference between the donation amount and the market value of the art work.

About the Charity

Established in December 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60.

Our Mission is to provide shelter and care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of elderly persons who have no home and no children or close relatives with adequate resources to care for them.

The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed.

We are not a government-subvented Home and depend largely on the public's generosity to enable us to continue our work as a Registered Charity.

Since the Home started operations in December 1958, we have been located at our present site at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. In 2015, the Government granted us a fresh 30-year lease on a reduced land area of 3,300sqm. Concurrently, we also entered into a three-plus-three year tenancy agreement on the remaining 8,924sqm land area that we are currently occupying.

We are presently constructing a new five-storey building on the 30-year lease land, to maximise on the plot ratio of 1.4 prescribed for the land. We began construction in November 2018 and when we move into the new building, we shall increase our licensed capacity to 150.

We invite you to join us in this exciting journey of building a new Home for the Elderly, so that our Residents will not be displaced.

The Home is a recipient of the President's Award for Philanthropy 2014, and the Charity Transparency Award (2018).
