About Campaign

The Fin Finder mobile app uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology as an innovative solution to combat the illegal wildlife trade by rapidly identifying shark and ray species via their fins. On World Ocean Day 2022, Conservation International Singapore, with the support of NParks and other partners, successfully launched the Fin Finder. Piloted by NParks, it helps customs officers expedite the seizure of suspicious shark and ray fin shipments.

This campaign will raise funds to scale the adoption of the Fin Finder app, monitor and improve app features and support engagement activities to increase public awareness and understanding of wildlife trade and protection.

By conserving wildlife now, through technology, our future generations can enjoy our natural world. Sharks and rays play an essential role in keeping ocean ecosystems balanced for the long-term well-being of nature and communities.

The illegal wildlife trade is a multi-billion-dollar industry that spans the globe, and it is the 4th most lucrative unlawful trade worldwide after weapons, drugs, and human beings. Therefore, Singapore needs to secure its borders against illegal wildlife trade and help reduce the risk associated with the unlawful transport of endangered species.

Through talks and workshops, we will bring attention to the importance of biodiversity, the threats due to illegal wildlife trade, and solutions to protect our natural world.

About the Charity

Every breath we take, every bite we eat, it all starts with nature.

Everything that makes our lives and livelihoods possible has its origins in the natural world. Unfortunately, we are pushing nature beyond its limits. Our growing global population's demand for resources is depleting forests and oceans faster than they can recover. Nature has time to evolve, as it always has. Humans don't.

For more than 30 years, Conservation International has worked across the Asia-Pacific region to protect the nature that humanity depends upon. We work from the individual and community levels. We build partnerships and collaborate with NGOs, corporate partners, and government, to conserve the region's most vital remaining natural areas for the benefit of humanity.
