About Campaign
ends 22 Feb 2021, 11:59 PMFor this fundraiser, we will be doing a 420min live-stream where audience members - upon making a donation - are able to choose an activity (from a predetermined list) for Split members to partake in. A highlight of the event is the emergence of the 'SIBEI SUAY HAT' at every 42 minutes of the live-stream, where the chosen lucky/unlucky Split member will have to complete a surprise forfeit or task.
Split Theatre explores the vulnerability of ourselves and how we can show that and connect with the audience. So what better way to show our true selves than by subjecting ourselves to 420 minutes of liveness, doing the wackiest, most random and most nonsensical things whilst trying to stay awake (and sane)?
The live-stream will be broadcast on Split Theatre's Facebook Live on the 20 February from 7pm to 2am.
Follow us on Instagram and Facebook at @splittheatre for direct updates about our live-stream.
About the Charity
Centre 42 is small - small team, small spaces, small works. But if 2020 has shown us anything, it's that the smallest things can have the largest impact. From a small blue house on Waterloo Street, we have grown to be home to more than 170 artists and theatre collectives, supported the development of over 200 new theatrical projects, and brought theatre magic to more than 40,000 audiences.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO CONTINUE GROWING THE THEATRE SCENE.
This year, we returned 42 Waterloo Street, our home since 2014. We've not only lost spaces for our artists and programmes, but also an important source of rental income. With the arts sector adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, many arts-workers and companies are trying our best to survive financially. We hope to continue in the small ways we can, to offer avenues of creation, documentation and training workshops and presentations that will sustain the livelihoods and spirits of our art-making community.
Centre 42 is a non-profit theatre development space committed to the creation, documentation and promotion of text-based works for the Singapore stage. Our mission is to:
- nurture talent and incubate content of text-based works for the stage;
- build public awareness and appreciation for Singapore theatre; and
- be a focal point for research, documentation and critical discourse on the development of Singapore theatre.
