Our Campaign Storyends 31 Jul 2020, 11:59 PM
You may or may not know, but Art of Living group has been supporting a local charity - HCA Hospice Care, for a while now. They take care of patients who are dying and even now, their nurses, doctors and social workers continue to make home visits to these patients to ensure that they are comfortable and that their pain is well taken care of.
We really ought to salute these healthcare workers and support their work however we can. HCA is currently running a fundraising campaign to help fund their operations and all the extra costs incurred during this period. If you can, please support them here. No amount will be too small to help.
We are glad to share that on top of the amount raised on this page, we have also raised $12,100 in cheque donations for HCA. Thank you all for your generous support!
As our public hospitals and healthcare system are being stretched to cope with COVID-19 cases, more patients are being discharged to recover in their homes. And this includes patients with terminal illnesses.
As Singapore's largest home hospice care provider, HCA has seen an increase in referrals and requests for assistance since April. With an increased demand for our services, our clinical team have had to streamline existing processes and re-look scheduling to accommodate the burgeoning caseloads.
We also have to ensure that our healthcare team takes additional precautionary measures and put on PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as masks, gowns, gloves and sometimes booties, during our visits to ensure that we keep ourselves and people around us safe. Digital initiatives such as video consultation was also been trialled and launched during this period.
Our clinical team continues to push ahead despite the challenges and the constantly evolving situation, as HCA believes that the care and support to families and patients with life-limiting illnesses is still essential, even during a pandemic.
Unfortunately, we are not immune to the rising costs of securing medical and protective equipment due to a global shortage. The change in our operations and the launch of digital initiatives also translate into unexpected costs.Hence, we need your help now more than ever.
Support our healthcare heroes, our patients and their families by making a donation to HCA Hospice Care.
