Our Campaign Story
ends 30 Jun 2022, 11:59 PMDrinking enough water to stay hydrated is a daily necessity but for whatever reason, we often did not drink at least 8-ounce glasses of water a day. Staying hydrated helps to maximize physical performance, treats kidney stones, prevents hangovers, relieve constipation and aid in weight loss. Drinking water has many more benefits such as improving skin complexions, flushes out toxins and keeping out joints lubricated.
In 2021, I was hospitalised twice and was told by doctors that it could be prevented by drinking more water to maintain hydration. I am taking this opportunity to raise funds for caregivers and to adjust my water intake to the recommended 8-ounce glasses of water a day.. if this resonates with you, do make a donation and join me in pledging to drink one more glass of water than usual.
About Campaign
CAL FOR MENTAL WELLNESS (C4MW) aims to raise funds for Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL) to continue supporting caregivers of persons with mental health issues in the community. Tapping on the Tote Board Enhanced Fund-Raising Programme, we aim to raise $500,000, for dollar-to-dollar matching from the Government, capped at $250,000.
Besides raising funds, the campaign aims to boost mental health awareness and literacy among the general public. We also hope to spread awareness about the availability of fully-funded programmes and services for caregivers of people with mental health issues, that are offered by CAL.
We are rallying the community and caregivers to get creative and start their own mini campaigns in support of the cause. Anyone interested to participate can choose any activity and seek donations to complete milestones or commitments. For example, "If I receive $10,000 in donations, I will cycle around the island" or "If I receive $500 I will conduct a zoom baking class for 10 people".
CAL will lead several activities that anyone can participate in. Suggestions for campaigns will be provided on our website (cal4mentalwellness.sg), and social media, and we will feature public-led campaigns throughout the four week period to inspire and motivate others. All campaign creators will be referred to as Mental Wellness Champions (MWCs). This sets the ball rolling for CAL's foray into developing a pool of MWCs within the community.
About The Charity
Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL) is a professional non-profit organisation in Singapore dedicated to meeting the needs of caregivers of persons with mental health issues and dementia through education, support networks, crisis support, tailored services and self-care enablement. While there are other organisations providing support to the community affected by mental health issues, only CAL focuses exclusively on supporting caregivers with professional services.
CAL was incorporated on 25 October 2011. Our founding members are Singapore Anglican Community Services, Caregivers' Association of the Mentally Ill and BinjaiTree Limited.
CAL is an approved Institution of a Public Character (IPC), which reflects that it is exclusively non-profit in nature. In 2019, CAL won the Charity Governance Award 2019 (medium charities category), awarded by the Charity Council in recognition of it having adopted the highest standards of governance, in line with the Code of Governance for Charities & IPCs.
