Our Campaign Story
ends 31 Jul 2017, 11:59 PMWalk No Walls is a 2017 community project spearheaded by group of students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Founded by Shawn Lim and his project team, Walk No Walls is a youth-led project aimed at raising funds and raising awareness on the issues of social mobility, community integration and employment faced by PWDs (Persons with Disabilities) in Singapore.
In March 2017, the Straits Times reported on the need for the social integration of PWDs and able-bodied persons. The report also stressed that many buildings in Singapore were not easily accessible for PWDs. It also highlighted the need for PWDs to lead financially independent and dignified lives through gainful employment.
A July 2016 article by Channel NewsAsia also revealed that more PWDs were joining the work force and that work places should be made inclusive for the PWD community.
Shawn and his team has adopted Bizlink Centre, a charity that provides employment and training for PWDs for the Walk No Walls campaign.
Funds raised from this campaign will be donated to Bizlink Centre to support their operational costs and the needs of their beneficiaries.
