BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING
In the past 21 years, I'm very privileged to have many people pour their time, energy & resources into me and moulded me into who I am. So, I want to use my 21st birthday milestone to do the same for those less privileged & facing challenges, at YWCA Singapore, where I helped out over the summer & saw that many families were made so much happier.
Key YWCA Programmes:
#1. Meals-on-Wheels: provides free, nutritious lunches for elderly and the disabled and dinners for children form low-income families every weekday.
#2. Sustenance for Families: distributes dry rations to need families every month.
#3. Kids' Weekday Care: a thrice-weekly after-school care focusing on the overall development of children from low-income families through tutoring, enrichment, workshops, outings and group work.
#4. Workz-on-Wheels: imparts craft and life skills to build the confidence and self-esteem of children and youths.
#5. Empowering Mums: a series of transformative workshops to equip back-to-work mothers with the necessary skills, support and confidence they need to be employed.
#6. YWCA House: a hostel catering to girls who do not have a conducive home after leaving children's or girls' homes.
Giving.sg is a non-profit initiative created and maintained by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), which is itself a charity in Singapore.
The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of Singapore is the oldest women's organisation in Singapore. Founded in 1875, the YWCA has always been committed to meeting the needs of our society through her active involvement in community services and its many programmes and activities.
The YWCA is a united movement of women based on Christian faith and love with the purpose of bringing women into a community fellowship through which they may grow as Christians by faith, word and deed.
The mission of the Association is to serve the Community regardless of race, belief or religion, with love and compassion and provide quality programmes, facilities and services to:-
1. advance the development of women and girls in body, mind and spirit; and
2. benefit the Community
The Association may work with other organisations and agencies to fulfil her mission.
