Our Campaign Story

ends 31 Jan 2023, 11:59 PM

You're tubed up to a haemodialysis machine for 4 hours a day, 3 times a week. This amounts up to 12 hours of precious time spent, being tired, uncomfortable and with limited movement on a dialysis chair.

That is just another week in the life of KDF's kidney patients. Kidney failure is a physically, mentally, and financially challenging condition for our patients and they deserve a second chance at life beyond their diagnosis.

Join me as I put myself in the shoes of a dialysis patient by completing 12 hours of walking over a period of 10 days, from 5 August 2022 to 14 August 2022. I aim to complete a walking / trekking distance of 120km, trekking through the various nature reserves and trails in Singapore.

About Campaign

A kidney patient undergoes 3 dialysis sessions each week, and each session lasts 4 hours. This amounts up to 12 hours of precious time spent with limited movement on a dialysis chair, which is physically and mentally challenging for a kidney patient.

This year, participants from all walks of life are encouraged to put themselves in the shoes of a dialysis patient by completing 12 hours of walking over a period of 10 days, from 5 August 2022 to 14 August 2022.

About The Charity

The Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF) is an independent non-profit organisation which provides subsidised dialysis treatment to needy members of the community.

We support those whose income falls into the lowest 10% income bracket in Singapore, ensuring that this vulnerable group of patients will not be deprived of treatment as a result of their financial situation.

We currently run four haemodialysis centres at Admiralty Link, Bishan, Chinatown and Ghim Moh, serving about 340 patients annually. At least $4 million is needed yearly to continue KDF's life-saving mission.

All donations to KDF will be eligible for tax deduction as we are a IPC registered charity.

*Impact statements listed above are for illustrative purposes only. All donations received through this page will be channelled into the KDF general fund, which covers patients' dialysis treatment, public education, research and other operating expenses.
