Our Campaign Story

ends 31 Mar 2022, 11:59 PM

Hi! We are a family cover band. We jam together to bond. All the second letters of our name is the letter 'a', hence we're called the 2nd As. We love music and find that playing songs and singing together allow us to spend more time together. We play pop, rock, folk, traditional, jazz and more. Our 5 children are aged between 11 and 24 and we have been playing for more than 10 years at various community events and weddings. We had a blast last year performing for this event and when we were asked if we wanted to perform again we jumped at the opportunity to be able to help raise funds for kidney patients and their caregivers. We want our children to learn the value of giving and volunteering and what better way than doing it through something that we love; playing music to entertain and we hope that the music that we play will be able to alleviate the hardship faced by kidney patients and encourage others to donate generously.

We will be streaming our performance live on 13 March, from 3pm to 4pm, on KWCLR's event Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/kwc.letsrevolutionise/) and NKF's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/NKFsg).

Come and join us! While enjoying our performance, we have some prizes sponsored by City Music to give away.

About Campaign

Kidney We Care: Let's Revolutionise! (KWCLR) is back! Happening from 28 February to 13 March 2022, KWCLR is a hybrid charity event helmed by volunteers and partners to urge the nation not to sugar coat the silent killer, kidney disease.

The event aims to continue to heighten community awareness about kidney disease and to bring forth a new wave of kidney health advocates. There will be virtual activities comprising a plethora of engaging workshops, insightful webinars and electrifying performances initiated by our volunteers and partners as well as outreach & fundraising booths to encourage members of the public to contribute and participate for a good cause. Through this event, we hope to raise $50,000 to provide subsidised treatment and holistic care for our patients.

The Covid-19 situation has brought about unprecedented challenges for both NKF and our patients. The disease has placed our patients at higher risk due to their weaker immune systems. Just as worrying, about 5.5 individuals are diagnosed with kidney failure every day and the number of new cases has increased by about 60% over the past 10 years. With NKF serving over 5,000 of them, the financial burden on NKF is a heavy one, as it costs over $25,000 a year to treat and care for a kidney patient. However, with you and the community's generous support, we are able to keep treatment affordable and available to all who need it.

About The Charity

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is currently supporting more than 5,300 kidney failure patients, about two-thirds of the national kidney failure patient population. Our patients are of the lower income group. Treating a patient costs over $2,000 a month, however, the treatment our patients receive is highly subsidised, with 76% paying $50 or less a month out-of-pocket.

NKF remains committed to journeying with our patients every step of the way in their treatment and rehabilitative care, advocating kidney health to prevent kidney failure and making a difference in the renal landscape to benefit the community.

Partner us in giving Life & Hope to our patients now!

All donations received through Giving.sg will be channelled to NKF General Fund, which will be used to provide subsidised dialysis treatment and holistic care for our patients.
