Our Campaign Story

ends 04 Oct 2020, 11:59 PM

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Singaporean women and there are over 1,900 newly diagnosed cases each year. Contrary to the belief that breast cancer is an illness that only affects older women, breast cancer has become more prominent in women aged 30 onwards. Early detection is essential as it leads to drastically higher recovery rates. Thus, funds raised will, in part, be used to fund mammogram screenings and make it more affordable for the women who need it the most.

We are a group of dedicated and committed youths fundraising for Breast Cancer Foundation, as part of the Citi YMCA Youth for Causes project. Our group name is TeamLaFleur, which means flower in French. The flower in our team name represents breast cancer survivors, whose beauty lies in their resilience and courage in the face of adversity. Through advocacy, we hope to be change makers that can rally the support of society to champion against breast cancer for life.

Stay tuned for an exciting online concert held on the 4th of September from 7.30pm to 8.30pm on Youtube and a dialogue session with breast cancer survivors called We Share, We Care held on 21st July. You are more than welcome to attend both of these activities and make your donations for the cause. (More details will be given at a later date). Head over to our Instagram (@teamlafleur) to check out our exciting lineup of activities!

About The Charity

Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) is a social service agency with an IPC status. Our mission is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Set up in 1997, BCF is committed to raising awareness about breast cancer through talks, events and publications that advocate early detection through regular screening, as well as supporting survivors and their families through various befriending and training activities. As one of the few advocacy groups in the world with a Men's Support League that was integrated with Caregiver Support Group in year 2017, BCF aims to encourage greater male participation in society's fight against this affliction.
