Did you know that the cost to treat a patient on dialysis is more $2,000 a month and treatment is lifelong unless the patient gets a kidney transplant? Additionally, did you know that kidney failure cases are on the rise with no signs of slowing down?
Through Project Renal, SUTD Rotaract Club hopes to raise funds for needy kidney patients of The National Kidney Foundation and alleviate their financial difficulties by providing them with highly subsidised dialysis treatment and holistic care. Be sure to rally your friends in SUTD to support us in this meaningful fundraising effort!
Moreover, through our upcoming HEART Seminar (6 October) and educational infographics on our Instagram page, we would like to share with you the many different and easy ways you can reduce your own risks of kidney-related diseases.
Be sure to follow us on our Instagram page (@rotaractsutd) where we will be sharing freebies (e.g. Free Kidney Telegram Stickers, Instagram Stickers, Instagram Filters) and important health tips that you don't want to miss!
Abhirame, now 9, was diagnosed with a kidney condition when she was 7 months old. She started home-based peritoneal dialysis at 6 and a permanent tube was placed in her peritoneal cavity for dialysis. Her wish was to remove the tube from her tummy one day so that she can play normally like other children.
Her wish was granted! We are pleased to share that Abhirame received a kidney from her father in January 2020. Now, she is enjoying her childhood without having to undergo 10-hour overnight peritoneal dialysis every day.
While waiting for a chance for transplant, our patients, including children need to rely on dialysis to sustain their lives. Come join us in bringing hope to kidney patients through our Children's Day Charity Drive!
*This charity drive is one of the initiatives under Seasons of Love which features a series of campaigns in conjunction with various festive celebrations.

About The Charity
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is currently supporting more than 5,000 kidney failure patients, about two-thirds of the national kidney failure patient population. Our patients are of the lower income group. Treating a patient costs over $2,000 a month, however, the treatment our patients receive is highly subsidised, with 74% paying $50 or less a month out-of-pocket.
NKF remains committed to journeying with our patients every step of the way in their treatment and rehabilitative care, advocating kidney health to prevent kidney failure and making a difference in the renal landscape to benefit the community.
Partner us in giving Life & Hope to our patients now!
All donations received through Giving.sg will be channelled to NKF General Fund, which will be used to provide subsidised dialysis treatment and holistic care for our patients.
