Our Campaign Storyends 30 Jun 2020, 11:59 PM
The coronavirus pandemic has upended all of our lives whether its work, personal routines, or social interactions. For vulnerable groups such as women from low-income families, the disruptions have hit doubly hard.
Many institutions including the UN and the World Economic Forum have called out the reasons for the gendered effects of COVID-19. They include:
1. An overrepresentation of women in the industries hardest hit by the lock downs, including retail and services.
2. A persistent trend for women to bear the brunt of unpaid care work and childcare responsibilities
3. Women's vulnerability to domestic violence, magnified by the stress of lockdown orders.
In light of this, I'm starting a modest fundraiser to support the great work that Daughters of Tomorrow is doing. I would be deeply grateful if you can make a donation, or if not, I would also be equally happy if you can help to spread the word.
Thank you, and hope everyone is staying safe and sane!
