Will you give our warm fuzzy ball of sunshine a bit of help?
With the canine influenza outbreak in the Pasir Ris Farmway area in May, more than 50 of our dogs in SRC caught the bug, including a dog that's usually as happy as his name, Sunny.
Sunny displayed no obvious clinical signs like coughing or sneezing, but we noticed that the usually jovial and active boy had suddenly became very lethargic and lost his appetite. After monitoring him for a couple of days, we quickly brought him to the vet when his condition did not improve. The vet diagnosed him with pneumonia and he was warded in their isolation facility immediately.
Sunny struggled hard to fight pneumonia, and had to be syringe fed during the first few days as he was too weak to eat on his own. He was also kept on oxygen therapy as his lungs could not cope. Despite everything, Sunny remained a very good boy, letting others fuss over him and always greeting everyone with a gentle wag of his tail.
After nearly a week, we were overjoyed to hear that Sunny had started to eat on his own! He slowly regained his appetite and energy, and by day 14, he was finally fit enough to be discharged. We are now appealing to all our kind friends to help us raise funds to cover his hospitalization and treatment costs. No amount is too small, and any donation is greatly appreciated.
