Our Campaign Storyends 20 May 2018, 11:59 PM
I'm planning to run my first marathon on the 19th May 2018 (Sundown 2018). Why you may ask would I torture myself to run 42km in this heat and humidity? I ask the same question to myself every time during my training runs. Anyway, my story, which isn't at all that compelling, goes back to a fateful afternoon on 3rd December 2017 at the bar. My friends had just completed the SC marathon. Their finishing times for the event were pretty crap. They were moaning about the fact they will never ever again torture themselves and run a marathon. As the drinks flowed, I commented that I would run the marathon too if they ever decided to do it again, not thinking that comment will come back to haunt me ! Two days later and to keep my integrity intact, I had no choice but to sign up.
I hate running, I derive no personal enjoyment from it. I find it tedious, boring and painful. So as a means for motivation and to provide a purpose for my endeavour, I would like to use the opportunity to raise some money for the Children's Cancer Foundation. The foundation provides children with cancer and their families the much needed support in their battle against the life threatening illness. As a parent myself, I can't imagine what these families must be going through. Your contribution will be much appreciated so that this foundation can continue to support the children and their families. 100% of the gross donations will be donated to Children's Cancer Foundation.
