Our Campaign Storyends 31 Jan 2021, 11:59 PM
We are a group of enthusiastic runners who would like to do our part for St John's Home. We would like to raise S$20,000 for their shortage of $3 million in building funds.
We hope that with some challenges we take , we will garner enough support from all the kind hearted out there to donate. No amount is too small to make a difference. We target to run a total of 800km within 31 days and two of our runners , Alan and Lorbert will be trying to complete 100km (on top of the 800km) within 15 hours. We look forward to your donation for our challenge of working hard and undergoing pain for a good cause.
This fundraising campaign will be memorable to us and to encourage the spirit of giving back to our society, especially during this time of the year.
Be the change, Believe in the better tomorrow of others
There will be NO TRANSACTION FEES from 1 January 2020 to 31 March 2021. Therefore, 100% of your donations will go to St John's Home building fund.
About The Charity
A Shelter for needy elderly persons.
Established in Dec. 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60.
Our Mission is to provide shelter and care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of elderly persons who have no home and no children or close relatives with adequate resources to care for them.
The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed.
We are not a government-subvented Home and depend largely on the public's generosity to enable us to continue our work as a Registered Charity.
Since the Home started operations in December 1958, we have been located at our present site at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. In 2015, the Government granted us a fresh 30-year lease on a reduced land area. Concurrently, we also entered into a three-plus-three year tenancy agreement on the land that we are currently occupying.
We are now building a new five-storey building on the 30-year lease land to maximise on the plot ratio of 1.4 prescribed for the land. When we move into the new building, we shall increase our licensed capacity to 150. Construction began in Nov 2018, with target completion in Mar 2021.
We appeal for your support of building a new Home, so our elderly residents will not be displaced. Please donate generously. Thank you.
The Home is a recipient of the President's Award for Philanthropy 2014, the Charity Transparency Award 2019, 2018, Community in Bloom Award 2018, 2016, 2014.
