“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Sportcares’ programs are designed to benefit children and youths in a sustainable manner through education, nutrition and empowerment, and the Shiok Collective is on board to support their programs while helping to develop an inclusive program for the children and youths as well.
We are targeting to fundraise $2015 amount for Sportcares for their existing program needs and nutrition plans, and also co-organise with Sportcares a Kendama tournament for Primary and Secondary Schools to educate and empower the Sportcares children and youths.
Give the gift of independence and freedom to a person living with physical disabilities by helping SportCares to buy sport wheelchairs.
For people who are wheelchair users, sport helps develop physical strength, independence and empowerment. “You begin to take hold of your life…You don’t want to give up. You don’t want to give in,” says Edwin Koo, Captain of Singapore’s Wheelchair Basketball team for the 8th ASEAN Para Games. “You want to give your all.”
SportCares is raising funds to purchase sport wheelchairs for children and youth interested in playing basketball and tennis. SportCares will work with SDSC, ActiveSG and VWOs to expand the opportunities for people with disabilities to live better through sport.
In the past, SportCares is oping to raise funds for another 10 chairs for wheelchair basketball. In January, we will start a pilot programme for wheelchair tennis for children and youth and we’ll need to purchase 10 tennis-specific sport wheelchairs as well.
SportCares Foundation is at the heart of a growing national movement to use sport for social good.
With support from partners in the community and corporate sectors, SportCares has organised programmes that have touched the lives of more than 12,000 children, youth, seniors and persons with disabilities.
While each programme we organise has its unique characteristics, our mission has never varied: To empower the vulnerable through sport.
