Our Campaign Storyends 30 Sep 2017, 11:59 PM
Everyone has a story to tell and this is mine.
It's been 7 years since I first, and last did a world championships. That was my first full year of cycling and let's just say it ended as quickly as it started - I was caught behind a crash 5km in and never regained contact with the front bunch. This time round, I'm adamant to last longer. Better yet, I hope to finish the race. And if I do get round to it, why can't I dream and be a world champ? Oh how I kid.
I'm a perfectionist. I've OCD. I like to be in control but I can't with cycling. Things go wrong, I need to be flexible and adaptable. Cycling also keeps me physically AND mentally stimulated. I can't say I love racing but something draws me to it and I've kept on keeping on. Maybe one day I'll win the medal for my country that I so crave for. Or perhaps it'd always remain out of my reach. But I guess it wouldn't really matter at the end of the day. Cycling has already given me so much. It's honed my life skills and most importantly, endowed me with a great support network. You, my friends, are the best things cycling gave me.
World Champs is the start of my new 3-year cycle towards Tokyo 2020. Commonwealth Games 2018, Asian Games 2018 and SEA Games 2019 are my goals. The latter two a real possibility of a medal. Every experience counts, yet every race costs. I seek your help in getting me to Bergen in 2 weeks' time. I'll keep sharing my journey with all you good folks as I keep daring to dream.
Thank you so much. :)
In 2017 the Singapore Cycling Federation has worked tirelessly to build a squad of athletes to compete at a regional level. The National Training Squad and coaching program has resulted in a group of talented cyclists, ready to represent Singapore.
It is with great excitement we share the opportunity to send four athletes to Bergen, Norway to compete in the 2017 UCI Road World Championships, September 16th to 24th.
However, as a sport with limited resources, we were unable to foresee this opportunity and seek the support of the community to find the funds necessary. We are seeking the kind donation of up to $20,000 to send four athletes and one official to represent Singapore on the world stage.
By donating through this campaign, you are donating directly to the Singapore Cycling Federation, a registered National Sporting Association under SportsSG. All funds go directly to support the costs, mainly flights and accommodation of the team.
All donations over $1000 will receive a VIP invitation to a team event prior to their departure for Norway, and a public thank you for the support.
