SCGS PERANAKAN NIGHT 2019
Donations in support of The President's Challenge 2019
Sincerity. Courage. Generosity. Service. All Kim Geks know these four values well - it's not just our school motto and part of our class naming nomenclature, it is what we aspire to do, imbued in all that we do.
To commemorate SCGS' 120th anniversary, the school celebrates these core values through 120 ways of giving back to Singapore, culminating with the Peranakan Night 2019 dinner in September. We also commemorate the milestone year of Singapore's Bicentennial.
We are happy to confirm that President Halimah Yacob, an SCGS alumna, will be our Guest-of-Honour for this year's Peranakan Night. All funds raised from our efforts will go towards The President's Challenge 2019, the signature charity event of one of our nation's highest office.
The President's Challenge supports close to 70 beneficiaries covering sectors like children and family, healthcare, eldercare, disability services and rehabilitation of former offenders. We hope to raise S$120,000 in support of these beneficiaries.
More than a fundraiser, The President's Challenge is exactly as its name suggests - it is a challenge to all Singaporeans and friends of Singapore regardless of race, religion and background to step up for those in need. And to do so with sincerity, to advocate with courage, to give with generosity and to be of service to others in need.
No effort is too little, no donation is too small.

Initiated in 2000 by former President S R Nathan, the Challenge represents the coming together of people from all walks of life, to help the less fortunate. In 2012, under the leadership of former President Tony Tan Keng Yam, the Challenge was expanded to go beyond fundraising by including volunteerism and social
In 2018, President Halimah Yacob announced a $10 million fund (Empowering For Life Fund) which will empower vulnerable groups through skills upgrading, capacity-building and employment.
