Our Campaign Story

ends 25 Jun 2021, 11:59 PM

Hello!

I have joined a group that includes some old school friends from St Patrick's school (the Class Of '93) and some Singapore Cricket Club Soccer Section members to take part in a virtual run around Singapore challenge wherein we attempt to run a total of at least 1,680 km in a month from 25 May to 23 June 2021 amongst ourselves.

To reach this goal, each runner has committed to running a distance of between 25km to 180km in the month. We have also decided that with all this effort, it is a good chance to raise some money for a good cause. The cause we will be supporting as part of the challenge is Beautiful People, which is an organisation that befriends and mentors children and teenagers who have often been unfairly labelled or written off by society.

As a start, some of us have agreed to donate $1 for every km that we have committed to run. For example, I have personally committed to running 100km this month and will accordingly be donating $100. We hope that you will join and support us in our bid to raise as much money as we can for Beautiful People. You could even consider running/jogging/walking a distance equivalent to your donation to stay active while giving back. Of course, please do any running/jogging/walking in accordance with the prevailing COVID-19 regulations.

If you wish to donate, please go to: https://www.giving.sg/campaigns/run_sgp

Thank you in advance for your support and for taking the time to read this. Take care and stay safe!

About The Charity

Mentoring. It is the simple idea that dreams come true because of someone who believes in the one who dreams. This one simple idea has seen us walk into residential rehabilitation homes, schools, living rooms and behind prison bars, to touch the lives of those who have become our family. Beautiful People, started in 2006, is a volunteer movement dedicated to building mentoring relationships that support young women and men, exploring the idea of freedom within and without, and helping them realise their dreams. We are a relationship, not a programme. We refuse to be constrained by the boundaries of fixed programme durations. We celebrate the ordinary everyday heroes who are the mentors and mentees, growing together in an extraordinary journey of challenging their own limits. Our philosophy of support translates into a powerful experience for growth and self-discovery through a combination of life-skills training, mentoring, and coaching.
