#RenovAid for Chisty and Siti
About Campaignends 31 Mar 2016, 12 AM
Chisty, 68, suffers from Ischemic Heart Disease, Enlarged Prostate, Asthma, Hyperlipidaemia and Thyroid Imbalance. His 72-year-old wife, Siti, is an amputee and suffers from Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiac Failure and Hyperlipidaemia. After her amputation, she became wheelchair bound and was unable to conduct basic activities such as bathing on her own.
Their son has had to take on the responsibility of caring for both his parents by working irregular odd jobs. Siti also suffers from a hoarding problem, and because of that, her son has no choice but to sleep in the small utility room without a cupboard and mattress.
Chisty and Siti both love their filial son very much and hope that their son can have a proper place to stay. They also hope that with the tidying of their house and change of furniture, their house can be wheelchair-friendly and bring life to their living environment. Siti hopes that she can be more independent to reduce the physical and emotional strain on Chisty.
Xin Yuan Community Care (XYCC), set up in May 2005, is a registered member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and is also an Institution of Public Character (IPC). Our charity is committed to providing regular financial assistance and other forms of therapeutic, health, and educational support to 200 needy elderly as well as 50 underprivileged children from low-income families in the Bishan-Toa Payoh area. We do so by providing daily group exercise activities for our elderly led by our fitness trainer. We also provide the space and opportunity for our elderly to interact with each other, or with volunteers, which also provides social and emotional support. In addition, XYCC provides financial support to needy families, giving them monthly grocery supplies and subsidies. We also ensure that we hold festive celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Lantern Festival, Deepavali and Christmas for all our beneficiaries and their families.
