Our Campaign Story

ends 31 Dec 2022, 11:59 PM

Ever since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increased in the number of seniors who are at home alone. This has affected their mental wellbeing which has caused some of them to be more susceptible to illnesses. Project Inara aims to address this issue by facilitating interaction between them and our volunteers. Specifically, we hope to befriend the elderly whilst sharing some skills (such as being more technology savvy) with them. At the core, we hope to ensure that the social issues faced by our seniors can be eased and that their mental well-being can be preserved.

Project Inara will be collaborating with Lions Befrienders who run established programmes to serve the same target community Project Inara aims to reach out to.

We are raising funds on giving.sg in our efforts to reach out to others in the community who wish to support our cause. The funds raised will be used to purchase care pack items for the seniors.

About The Charity

Established in 1995, LB has more than 25 years of experience in befriending and caring for seniors in order for them to age in place in the community. Over the years, LB strives to address the varied needs of more than 86,000 seniors by adopting a senior-centric approach in its eldercare services. Leveraging on the support of some 1,000 regular volunteers, we actively engage more than 6,000 at-risk seniors via a spectrum of integrated eldercare service from preventive to intervention through comprehensive programmes, including social, emotional, mental and physical, to improve their quality of life.

Amid the challenges in the eldercare landscape, LB undertakes constant review and adjustment to its programmes and services. Under our Community Outreach arm, we currently operate 10 Active Ageing Centres, 3 Cluster Support, 2 Senior Group Homes and Home Personal Care services. Our Befriending arm extends island-wide befriending services to socially isolated seniors. For its exemplary disclosure and corporate governance practices, LB was conferred the Charity Transparency Award by the Charity Council in 2016 and 2017.

Lions Befrienders welcomes all donations. However, for administrative purposes, a minimum donation of $50 is eligible for tax deduction.
