Our Campaign Story
ends 21 Nov 2021, 11:59 PMWe are a group of passionate and loving individuals embarking on a service-learning project and our project's vision is to raise awareness, as well as funds for Food Bank Singapore to address the food shortage issue due to COVID19.
This project is carried out in collaboration with Food Bank Singapore. Food Bank Singapore was founded in 2012 and it operates as a food bank that collects donated food from farms, manufacturers, distributors, retail stores, consumers, and other sources. They re-distribute them to organisations such as old folks' homes, family service centers, and soup kitchens to end all food insecurities in Singapore.
Food charities across Singapore are experiencing huge shortages as a result of food hoarding and panic buying islandwide. On top of that, food donations have decreased drastically since the start of COVID19. As businesses in Singapore endure the reduction in sales, many families would have to face lower-income and even unemployment. This tightens the already difficult situation of low-income families and hence food charities are increasingly important in this crucial time.
We believe that we should all do our part as fellow citizens to reach out and support others in our community that are in need of aid. Hence we appeal to all of you to generously contribute to this cause :)
About The Charity
The Food Bank Singapore acquires donated food from farms, manufacturers, distributors, retail stores, consumers, and other sources, and makes it available to those in need through a network of member beneficiaries.
The Food Bank Singapore was set up by Nichol and Nicholas Ng, a pair of siblings running a food distribution business, FoodXervices Inc Pte Ltd. After observing the food industry for more than a decade, they realised the need for a food bank in Singapore. Founded in 2012, we were given charity status in 2012 and IPC status in 2015.
Our mission is TO END FOOD INSECURITY IN ALL FORMS in Singapore.
We now have a total of 360 member beneficiaries that includes:
Family Service Centres (FSCs)
Senior Activity Centres (SACs)
Various types of homes (Nursing Homes, Children's Homes, Halfway houses)
Soup kitchens
Other voluntary welfare organizations (VWOs) and registered charities
