Hi! We are Project Change 2.0, a group of 5 from Hwa Chong Institution embarking on a social service project to raise funds and spread awareness of children from low-income families. For our project, we have chosen to support Beyond Social Services.
According to research, children from low-income families suffer from low self-esteem and do not perform as well academically(1). Ng and Li (2014) also showed how this is true in the Singaporean context, and detailed how low-income families are inhibited academically by a lack of resources and relevant skills(2) . Yet, there is a lack of attention towards this issue locally. Thus, we felt compelled to raise awareness amongst the general public on the difficulties children from low-income families face in Singapore, so that the public can better understand and provide support to them in 2020 and beyond.
Your donation will help fund the amazing work that Beyond Social Services are doing, such as educational and development programmes which help create a culture of learning and benefit their beneficiaries' personal growth. They are dedicated to helping children and youths from less privileged backgrounds break away from the poverty cycle and we hope that you are as inspired by Beyond Social Services as we are.

About The Charity
Beyond serves disadvantaged young people and their families to move them beyond their problems. We want to develop young people who respect the law, value education and seek to become responsible persons.
Keeping young lives on track is about building a community where they can grow, contribute and believe that they are a part of. Beyond works to build inclusive communities where young people, local neighbourhoods, and wider society, can come together to share their gifts and cooperate on resolving their issues.
We value inter-organisational collaboration & will steadily expand by building networks of individuals and organisations that contribute towards our vision. We believe that our target group always benefits when more members of the community take an active interest in their well-being.
