Our Campaign Story

ends 31 Dec 2021, 11:59 PM

According to MOH, cancer is the leading cause of death in Singapore, with more than 1 in 4 deaths attributed to it each year. Medical advancements have improved the cancer survival rate in Singapore over the years, especially with early detection.

Certain survival rates eg leukaemia, lymphomas & breast cancer have improved over the years. For example, according to the Singapore Cancer Registry report released in 2017, Stage I breast cancer patients have a 5-year survival rate of 90% while Stage II patients have a 5-year survival rate of 80%.

However there remains inter and intra-tumoral heterogeneity, for example metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma has a 5-year survival rate of only 5-10%. Despite advances in targeted and immunotherapies as well as diagnostics, not every individual has the benefit of resources, time or "good fortune" of genetic predisposition.

Though I have left my previous corporate work in the pharmaceutical industry particularly in oncology therapeutics, the fight against cancer looms large and requires a whole of society effort to create awareness. I hope to play a part in it by onboarding as a community fundraiser with NCCS. I'll periodically provide updates through my personal social media such as FB stories (Community Service) and IG stories (Fund Raise). Fortitude Budget: Government is matching 1:1 till 31 Mar 2021!

All donation goes to the NCCS Cancer Fund, in support of patient care, cancer research and cancer education.

About The Charity

Someone in Singapore is diagnosed with cancer every hour. For many, a cancer diagnosis is an emotional and difficult time. The NCCS Cancer Fund (NCCSCF) helps support the fight against cancer by providing financial assistance for needy patients, ensuring sufficient funding for NCCS scientists and clinicians to continue their work in cancer research and promotes cancer education for healthcare professionals and the general public.

NCCS helps over 26,000 cancer patients each year. From the moment they are diagnosed and throughout their treatment we are with them, providing the very best care, by the best people, in the best place.

Donate today and help us give hope to people with cancer.

All donations received are managed by SingHealth Fund (SHF), an institution of Public Character (UEN 201624016E).
