Our Campaign Story

ends 31 Mar 2023, 11:59 PM

The Best of You collaborates with Bowen Secondary School to launch a fundraising campaign in support of AMKFSC Community Services' Thriving Community Fund. This fund provides citizens with spaces, connections and resources to lead and participate in community-driven initiatives, which help to meet immediate needs within the community and enable vulnerable residents to become changemakers and active contributors to their neighbourhoods.

Students of Class 3 Topaz from Bowen Secondary School will take the lead to kickstart a virtual charity walkathon to complete a total distance of 40km from now to 4th November 2022 to garner donations for the fund.

Be part of their journey and support our students as they do their bit to uplift our disadvantaged communities through the following actions:

Form a group or join the walkathon yourself in your own free time. Just take a photo of your walk, post it on your social media and tag #OneStepOneDream.

Your support for this initiative will go towards enabling beneficiaries like Lydia, a mother-of-four whose family hit a rough patch when her husband lost his job during the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of a family-centric community initiative, Lydia was able to realize her aspiration of turning her skills in event coordination and sewing into a home-based bridal business to support her family.

About Campaign

In today's fast-paced, results-driven society, we're constantly reminded to thrive - not just survive. But what does it mean to thrive, to flourish, and to lead a meaningful life?

This is where our community platforms and initiatives play an essential role in enabling us to journey alongside individuals and families bearing the weight of Singapore's rising cost of living and increasingly frantic pace of life.

But a thriving community can't be built on its own. As such, the Thriving Community Fund was set up to provide everyday citizens with the spaces, capabilities, and resources to become changemakers in their own ways - contributing their strengths to improve everyday quality of life, while using their lived experiences to push for systemic change.

One such example is Lydia, a beneficiary of our family service centre and a mother-of-four whose family hit a rough patch when her husband lost his job during the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of a family-centric community initiative, Lydia was able to realise her aspiration of turning her skills in event coordination and sewing into a home-based bridal business to support her family.

From an active volunteer at community events, Lydia became a founding member and locum of our new Community Hub, where she continues to create a safe space where those in need can support and inspire each other.

Make a donation so changemakers like Lydia can continue to transform their community, while inspiring others to do the same!
