Feeling grateful to be living in Singapore on the morning of our nation's 58th Founding Anniversary, I admiringly gazed at my surroundings to take in the progress and prosperity our tiny nation has achieved. I silently thanked the Almighty for having blessed us with peace, tranquility, harmony and a safe environment.

Amidst the gleaming structures and the beautifully manicured gardens, my thoughts strayed to our fellow citizens who are eking out a living, surviving on much less than us and whose lives are a daily struggle to make ends meet. Children who go to bed each day living on a single meal. Young children who have to fend for themselves, while both parents are at work, labouring to provide for the paltry needs of their family.

Encouraged by the thought that when the chips are down, we Singaporeans have a loving and generous heart that empathises with those less fortunate than us. I am therefore, calling out to you my friends, to support my cause by making a donation to help these needy families. A donation of any amount would be welcome. However, every donation of $10 or more, will be eligible for a 250% tax deduction.

As our vibrant nation flourishes, let us play a small part in ensuring that every needy family has the opportunity to progress as well.
