Our Campaign Storyends 25 Apr 2021, 11:59 PM
Dear friends and family members,
2021 is a new year for many of us given the trying times of 2020. And this year, I would like to raise awareness and support for St. Andrew's Autism Centre by diverting all of my incoming birthday gifts to SAAC so that the organisation can continue to provide quality care to its service users. So instead of buying me gifts or giving me ang paos for my birthday, please consider donating a small token to SAAC instead.
SAAC is a non-profit organisation for the education, training, and care of persons with autism and their families. A service of St. Andrew's Mission Hospital. SAAC operates St. Andrew's Autism School and St. Andrew's Adult Autism Services, which runs St. Andrew's Adult Home Sengkang and two Day Activity Centres at different locations.
SAAC also supports and equips families and caregivers with members with autism with knowledge and skills through a range of family services, including parent support and networking. SAAC engages in public education, advocacy and community outreach with the vision for an inclusive society.
Birthdays are a new start, a fresh beginning and a time to pursue new endeavors with new goals. And I look forward to your kind support in helping autistic individuals lead dignified and meaningful lives.
About The Charity
Out of passion to care for the physical, emotional and social well-being of the community, the St. Andrew's Medical Mission was founded in 1913 by Dr. Charlotte Ferguson-Davie, the wife of the first Anglican Bishop of Singapore who was also a medical doctor herself. Seeing the plight of the local women and children of that time and the lack of medical services for them, Dr. Ferguson-Davie set up a dispensary along Bencoolen Street for the destitute women and children. The Medical Mission continued to meet the locals' needs and thus led to the opening of more dispensaries and eventually, St. Andrew's Mission Hospital in 1923 and St. Andrew's Orthopaedic Hospital in 1939.
Working closely with the Government, SAMH constantly developed its services to meet the relevant needs of our local community at all times. Today, SAMH has under its operation: St. Andrew's Autism Centre, St. Andrew's Community Hospital, St. Andrew's Nursing Home and St. Andrew's Senior Care.
