As I got opportunity to support and uplift people with disabilities by SPD Sheltered workshop program. It was created to provide employment opportunities for those people with developmental and intellectual disabilities of at least 18 years old, who were facing difficulties in finding jobs at open market. The SPD Sheltered Workshop offers vocational training that helps prepare people with disabilities for employment.
Due to this current pandemic, continuous support to society has been affected in many ways, several fundraising events, workshop events were cancelled but the needs of affected people are still around.
A typical day at the workshop starts at 8am and ends at 5pm every weekday.
Under the guidance of six supervisors, more than 100 trainees with disabilities engage in activities ranging from printing, assembling and packing of foods and stationery, digital scanning and archiving of documents.
A group of 10 highly-skilled artisans are responsible for fulfilling the bookbinding and book restoration orders which the workshop undertakes. They also produce quality lifestyle products such as notebooks and photo frames which are made by hand.
As part of giving.sg's continued effort to support charities, there will be no transaction fees from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.

About The Charity
SPD is a local charity set up in 1964 to help people with disabilities maximise their potential and be a part of mainstream society.
We are here to help children and youths with special needs reach for the stars and be the best that they can be through early intervention and educational support.
We strive to boost the self-reliance and mobility of persons with disabilities within the community, and we do so through therapy services, assistive technology and the support and encouragement of our care team.
Our day care programmes provide respite to families, making it possible for persons with disabilities to stay with their loved ones at home for as long as possible without having to resort to institutional care.
A strong advocate for inclusive employment, we train people with disabilities and work with them to seek suitable employment opportunities so that they can be financially independent and lead a full and engaged life.
After more than 50 years, we remain focused and committed to enabling people with disabilities.
