Hi ! My name is Angelina Yeo. I am a Secondary 1 student and I hope you would support me as i want to do something meaningful during this school holiday. I've decided to raise funds online for charity that helps the needy. I've chosen Metropolitan YMCA, a charity organisation which helps people who are elderly, physically challenged due to accident or illness and the poor who earns less than $500.

Your donation would help MYMCA run their community services such as M.Y Manna and M.Y Big Sweep programme that impact the lives of over 700 family members every month. All outright donations to MYMCA are entitled to 250% tax exemption.

M.Y Manna provides groceries and toiletries while M.Y Big Sweep improves living conditions by cleaning homes of the needy. Our volunteers also spend time befriending the beneficiaries and bringing them happiness and relief.

I really hope you can join me lend a helping hand and build a better community together for our beneficiaries.

Thank you

About The Charity

Metropolitan YMCA (MYMCA) leads positive community transformation with a special focus on children and youths. We nurture our children and work with our youth to identify their aspirations and amplify their efforts to reach the community for positive transformation.

Apart from our community and youth impact efforts, we are also a social enterprise, providing affordable F&B and hospitality services. All net surpluses from our F&B and hospitality businesses contribute to our M. Y programmes which reach out to impact the community positively.

The first YMCA was set-up by a group of youths led by George Williams in 1844 London to counter social ills resulting from the Industrial Revolution.

Likewise, in post-war Singapore, Dr Chen Su Lan, a medical practitioner who fought the wide-spread use of opium, saw the need for youths to be engaged in wholesome activities. He formed the Chinese YMCA in 1946, catering to the Chinese-speaking community which made up more than 75% of the resident population in Singapore.

The Chinese YMCA offered skills, vocational and recreation courses and attracted wide support from the community.

In 1974, the Chinese YMCA changed its name to Metropolitan YMCA and set up a new building for headquarters at 60 Stevens Road largely through the generous support of the Lee Foundation and Shaw Foundation.

We are registered as a Society (UEN No. S63SS0006B), gazetted as a Charity (Charities No. 0089), and recognized as an Institute of Public Character (IPC No. 000433).

Our subsidiary, MY World Preschool Ltd, provides infant and childcare services.

Locally in Singapore, we are a member of the National Council of Social Services, a corporate member of the People's Association, an associate member of the National Youth Council, the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, and the National Council of Churches in Singapore.

Internationally, we are part of the World Alliance of YMCAs, Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs, as well as an active member of the YMCA World Urban Network.

Fundraising can help to raise more and change more lives.
