Our Campaign Story

ends 08 Oct 2017, 11:59 PM

Beneath her small frame is one feisty dog, Maggie. The tear on one of the ears is her trademark. Maggie is very affectionate and wins the hearts of everyone she meets!

Maggie was overweight when rescued and her hind legs were so weak that she couldn't stand. She went through rehabilitation with her kind fosterer and their determination paid off. Maggie started walking and losing weight. Her happiest day came when she found her forever home.

Unfortunately, Maggie began bleeding and discharging pus and was rushed to the vet. She was diagnosed to have a severe uterus infection. Her life would be at risk should the infection progress. Pus would accumulate in the uterus and bacteria will spread via her bloodstream, affecting vital organs such as the liver and kidneys. An emergency hysterectomy was ordered to avoid the risk of rupture. The surgery and other costs are about $1570.

While we are relieved that Maggie is now recovering well, we are appealing to the kind angels out there for funds to cover the costs of the surgery. No amount is too small! We thank you very much.

About The Charity

SOSD is a volunteer-run organisation dedicated to the welfare of Singapore's many street dogs.

Our mission is to eliminate cruelty to and abandonment of animals, enhancing their welfare, and improving the lives of animals and humans, through rescue, education and advocacy.

SOSD relies on the generosity of the public to support its shelters at Sungei Tengah and Jurong Island. Our expenses have gone up drastically with the increase in rental, hire of staff to run both shelters and implementation of the Trap-Neuter-Release- Management ("TNRM") programme.

You can make a difference. Your kind donation will help in providing shelter, food, medicine, veterinary care and love to the rescued dogs.

Your donation is eligible for 250% tax rebate. Kindly provide your name as per NRIC and your tax reference (NRIC/FIN).

Donations received in GivingSG will be pooled with other donations and be used to provide food, medicine, veterinary care and support for the dogs under SOSD's care. Donations may also be used to pay for other operational costs of SOSD's shelters, such as utilities, water, rental and transport costs and costs and expenses of its TNRM programme. This is inclusive of donations raised in all of SOSD's campaigns.
