Our Campaign Story

ends 30 Apr 2022, 11:59 PM

For this year's Women Changemakers Summit, we are adopting a charity of choice - LOVE, NILS and we are going to do both a crowdfunding campaign & Volunteer Call Out during the Summit.

As the founder of Women Changemakers Summit, I decided to adopt and support LOVE, NILS because I personally can relate to Lesli Berggren's story of how LOVE, NILS was founded because of her son, Nils. She reminded me of the 2 years that my late sister, Doreem had to battle with Leukemia Cancer who eventually passed away in 2004. During that 2 years, our family had no emotional care or support because we had no one who had gone through similar scenario to guide us or understand us. Furthermore we couldn't get the financial support because we don't meet the requirements for the grant. This added more stress for my family especially my parents.

So I hope that I can play a part in raising funds and awareness for LOVE, NILS because I wished we had LOVE, NILS back then when we needed it the most. The healthcare guidance, emotional care, and social and community support to children with cancer and their caregivers.

Their founder, Lesli Berggren will also be one of the speakers where she will share with the audience on "Debunking the Myth of running NGOs".

About The Charity

At LOVE, NILS we provide support to children with cancer and their caregivers with much needed healthcare guidance, emotional care plus social and community support that will enable them to thrive.

THE CHALLENGE
Where do you even begin? Parents seeking treatment for their child have to find their way through complex, often puzzling healthcare systems. Both parent and child face immense challenges to their well-being, such as anxiety, isolation and depression. To stand a better fighting chance, families need guidance, emotional care, a strong community and other forms of support that some hospitals may not be able to fully provide.

THE WORK - Holistic support with a difference.
LOVE, NILS provides families with knowledge, resources and community support at every step of the way. We're the only non-profit in Singapore that raises funds to pay for Care Coordinators who guide patients and caregivers to receive the help they need.

We believe it takes a village to heal a child. And that's why we hold regular toy drives, events, school programs and hospital visits involving many dedicated individuals, to keep children and caregivers socially engaged, hopeful and resilient. This way, they know they're not alone in the fight.
