Our Campaign Storyends 31 Dec 2021, 11:59 PM
Hello! We are a team of Sec 3 students from Ngee Ann Secondary School who have partnered with Lions Befrienders, a non-profit organisation centred all around improving the lives and welfare of the more than 7800 senior citizens under their care. Lions Befrienders caters to the basic needs of the seniors under their care, and helps to relieve their isolation and boredom by keeping them engaged in the many activities they offer. They also promote community participation in caring for the elderly, encouraging the public to chip in and give back to the older generation who have helped to achieve the comfortable standards of living we enjoy today. As such, we at Ngee Ann Secondary have decided to partner with Lions Befrienders to raise funds in support of their cause. We aim to raise a sum of $1600 which will go directly towards allowing Lions Befrienders to better care for the senior citizens under their jurisdiction. For this campaign, we are using the hashtag 'teamgoldies' as we are aiming to help those going through their golden years. The general public can support the campaign by visiting the Lions Befrienders giving.sg site and purchasing their merchandise or donating money to the association. With your kind support, Lions Befrienders will be able to extend their reach and reach out to more seniors who are vulnerable and in need of care which may otherwise be inaccessible to them. We hope you will be so kind as to offer a helping hand in support of a good cause. Thank you.
About The Charity
Established in 1995, LB has more than 25 years of experience in befriending and caring for seniors in order for them to age in place in the community. Over the years, LB strives to address the varied needs of more than 86,000 seniors by adopting a senior-centric approach in its eldercare services. Leveraging on the support of some 1,000 regular volunteers, we actively engage more than 6,000 at-risk seniors via a spectrum of integrated eldercare service from preventive to intervention through comprehensive programmes, including social, emotional, mental and physical, to improve their quality of life.
Amid the challenges in the eldercare landscape, LB undertakes constant review and adjustment to its programmes and services. Under our Community Outreach arm, we currently operate 10 Senior Activity Centres, 3 Cluster Support, 2 Senior Group Homes and Home Personal Care services. Our Befriending arm extends island-wide befriending services to socially isolated seniors. For its exemplary disclosure and corporate governance practices, LB was conferred the Charity Transparency Award by the Charity Council in 2016 and 2017.
