Our Campaign Storyends 18 Sep 2020, 11:59 PM
We are Samuel, Joelle, Jiamin and Ning Ling, a team of undergraduates from SUTD, NTU, SMU and NUS. As our team name, "Light in the Dark", suggests, we hope to brighten up the lives of struggling individuals going through difficult times.
One of YMCA's focus is to promote mental health awareness through their youth development platform; the University Service Club of YMCA (Uni-Y for short). In 2019, Uni-Y organised a YMCA Conversation dialogue session on mental health with 70 young adults in attendance.
Through this fundraising campaign, we hope to continue to support YMCA's work through specific programme such as:
- The planning of Uni-Y's annual YMCA Conversation Series
- The production of #friendsindeep care packages; every $10 donation helps to fund the cost of 1 package!
- Publicity through our website (tinyurl.com/litdYMCA)
In all, we want to not only raise awareness for mental health issues, but also take a step to care for a friend's mental health.

About The Charity
*COVID-19 Update: Due to COVID-19, many vulnerable communities face new challenges. Fundraising has also become exceptionally difficult. We would like to make an appeal to all to join us in our efforts in reaching out during these tough times. Your donation will fund new initiatives and existing programmes that support these communities. Please read "Our Programmes" for more information on these programmes.
The YMCA of Singapore stands to challenge, champion and train youth to stand up and be counted as independent and effective contributors to an inclusive society.
Our "YMCA Strong" campaign is a statement of our desired outcome for all we serve - to give our clients a hand up, not simply a handout, so that each one will be strengthened to reach their potential.
Our programmes range from training and employing special needs youth to mobilising and training youth leaders and volunteers to serve the needy in society.
