Our Campaign Storyends 15 Nov 2019, 11:59 PM
My aunt died of breast cancer when I was 14 years old. 33 years ago, nothing much could be done and she passed on. With advancement in medical treatments now, more women overcome breast cancer and survival rates are increasing. Let us strive to irradicate breast cancer through awareness and research. Help me raise funds for this research purpose. Thank you.
The Women vs Cancer campaign was launched by the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) to raise awareness and funds for patient care programmes and vital cancer research into women-related cancers.
Women vs Cancer will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month by raising funds for breast cancer research.
Breast Cancer is the commonest and deadliest complex disease that afflicts Singaporean women. Based on the latest cancer registry report released in 2017, it was estimated that 1 in 14 women in Singapore will develop the condition before the age of 75.
It creates a huge socioeconomic impact by affecting women in their economically productive years, disrupting childcare and daily function as a family unit where women are traditionally the lynchpin. To add, breast cancer incidences have increased by 3-fold in the past 4 decades.
This underscores the importance of advancing breast cancer research to allow clinicians and scientists to innovate and improve breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, detection and prevention.
Through your generous gift, you can empower women to lead a life not limited by cancer.
About The Charity
Established in 2005, the NCC Research Fund supports innovative research to find the breakthroughs that will change how we understand, diagnose, treat and ultimately cure cancer.
With cancer research and care under one roof at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, the knowledge gained from patient-centric research fuels advancement in clinical care, which in turn provides knowledge that drives research. We firmly believe that today's research will pave the way for tomorrow's cure for cancer.
