Our Campaign Story

ends 30 Nov 2022, 11:59 PM

This will be my 5th year participating in KDF Millennium Ride 2022 attempting to complete this 1000KM journey in 5 days. The ride will officially begin on 26th October 2022 in Butterworth and end on the 31st October 2022 in Singapore.

Proceeds from this event will help to subsidise dialysis and medication costs for patients served by KDF and also help defray public education, research and the Foundation's operating expenses.

KDF is a non-profit charitable organisation established in February 1996. KDF provides subsidised dialysis treatment to needy members for our community (lowest 10% income group of Singapore) so that these patients will not be deprived of treatment due to financial difficulties. It also supports research for a cure of kidney diseases.

For more information on KDF please refer to www.kdf.org.sg.

Personally, I find it very fulfilling and meaningful to do my part for charity to raise funds in support of low income and needy sick that cannot afford their medical treatment. I strongly believe in GIVING. Be it time, energy or monetary. Volunteering and giving back to society has always been something which I am passionate about.

Please help support those needy patients through this charity ride.

About Campaign

The KDF Millennium Ride (MRide) is an annual cross-border, long-distance charity cycling event in aid of low-income patients who require kidney dialysis in Singapore. The ride is organised by the Foundation, with support from key figures in the local cycling community.

Due to the pandemic since 2020, we were not able to proceed with this cross-border event fully. MRide adopted a local, round-island format due to pandemic-related restrictions. Up to 70 volunteer cyclists clocked a collective round-island distance of 400km in Singapore, raising close to SGD $220,000 in 2020.

With the regional borders reopened this year, we are pleased to share that together with the support of like-minded cyclists from different local cycling clubs, MRide 2022 will revert to its cross-border format and up to 60 volunteer cyclists will be cycling from Penang to Singapore. The ride is slated to happen from 26 October to 1 November 2022.

About The Charity

The Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF) is an independent non-profit organisation which provides subsidised dialysis treatment to needy members of the community.

We support those whose income falls into the lowest 10% income bracket in Singapore, ensuring that this vulnerable group of patients will not be deprived of treatment as a result of their financial situation.

We currently run four haemodialysis centres at Admiralty Link, Bishan, Chinatown and Ghim Moh, serving about 340 patients annually. At least $4 million is needed yearly to continue KDF's life-saving mission.

All donations to KDF will be eligible for tax deduction as we are a IPC registered charity.

*Impact statements listed above are for illustrative purposes only. All donations received through this page will be channelled into the KDF general fund, which covers patients' dialysis treatment, public education, research and other operating expenses.
