Our Campaign Story

ends 15 Mar 2023, 11:59 PM

Dear Friends,

Instead of buying a gift for me on my 13th Birthday, please consider making a donation to sponsor Popeye who is living in the SOSD shelter.

I first met Popeye when I visited the SOSD shelter in Sept 2022. Our family was looking to adopt a dog. In the end, we decided to adopt another dog called Muddy. Popeye has a skin condition (just like ezcema in human) and makes it harder for him to find a forever home...

I hope to be able to raise some money to sponsor Popeye and help him heel his skin. Wish he can find a home soon!

About Campaign

#Applied for Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Grant by TOTE Board Enhanced Fundraising Programme

SOSD is dedicated to the welfare of Singapore's many street dogs. Our shelter exists to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome strays to give them a second chance at life. Over the 10 years, we have rescued and rehomed more than 1,800 dogs.

We are caring for over 200 dogs at The Animal Lodge and Jurong Island shelter and feeding 120 strays in Jurong Island.

SOSD is currently located at The Animal Lodge, where most of Singapore's animal shelters and commercial farms are housed. The high density of animal residents at The Animal Lodge means that rescue dogs are subject to unrelenting environmental stressors.
This poses challenges to rehabilitating traumatized street dogs, making them stay in the unfavourable shelter environment for longer periods of time, hence poorer chances of adoption.

Donations received will be used for SOSD Rehabilitation Centre (SRC). We plan to find and secure a separate, new premise which is more conducive for the rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs with behavioural issues.

About The Charity

SOSD is committed to enhancing the welfare of Singapore's street dogs. Our mission is to eliminate animal cruelty and abandonment, improve animal and human lives, and enhance animal welfare through education, rescue, and advocacy efforts.

At SOSD, we rely on the public's generosity to support our shelters located at Sungei Tengah and Jurong Island. Your contribution can make a real difference in the lives of rescued dogs, providing them with shelter, food, medicine, veterinary care, and most importantly, love.

Donations made through GivingSG will be combined with other contributions to provide food, medicine, and veterinary care, as well as support for dogs under SOSD's care. Donations may also be used to cover operational expenses for our shelters, including utilities, water, rental, transport costs, and expenses associated with our TNRM program. This applies to all SOSD campaigns.

When you donate to SOSD, your information will be automatically submitted to IRAS. Thank you for considering a donation to support our mission and make a difference in the lives of our furry friends.
