I have been working with SPD for the past decade - first as a volunteer, then as a staff in the Early Intervention Program for Infants & Children.
It's been an incredible journey working in a team of diverse skillsets comprising Early Interventionalists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Psychologists & Social Workers. Together, we provide social, educational and rehabilitative services for children from birth to 6 years old who have been diagnosed to be at risk of having a handicapping condition or special need that will affect their development.
I have seen first-hand how this program changes the lives of children and their families.
It is priceless to catch the smile on a parent's face when a child who needed to be carried around was finally able to take his first steps with the aid of a walking frame, and then bravely progressed to walking around unsupported; The relief felt when a child with autism was able to cope with the stimulus around him and had fewer meltdowns; and the list goes on...
As we celebrate Singapore's 57th birthday, my family & I would like to invite you to join us in this meaningful cause to help these children achieve independence and self-reliance. Your kind donations are very much appreciated.
Let's leave no one behind and we will be "Stronger Together, Majulah!" :) Happy National Day!

About The Charity
SPD is a local charity set up in 1964 to help people with disabilities maximise their potential and be a part of mainstream society.
We are here to help children and youths with special needs reach for the stars and be the best that they can be through early intervention and educational support.
We strive to boost the self-reliance and mobility of persons with disabilities within the community, and we do so through therapy services, assistive technology and the support and encouragement of our care team.
Our day care programmes provide respite to families, making it possible for persons with disabilities to stay with their loved ones at home for as long as possible without having to resort to institutional care.
A strong advocate for inclusive employment, we train people with disabilities and work with them to seek suitable employment opportunities so that they can be financially independent and lead a full and engaged life.
After more than 50 years, we remain focused and committed to enabling people with disabilities.
