Our Campaign Story

Pakistan is experiencing a devastating flood monsoon, resulting in the death of many innocent people. The floods were triggered by heavier than usual monsoon rains and glaciers melting after a heat wave, all of which are linked to climate change.

The time is right for us to help Pakistan in its most difficult situation.

In response to the ravaging floods in Pakistan, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) is launching a public appeal to raise funds for the relief and recovery operations in aid of the survivors.

Pakistan has experienced an unprecedented torrential monsoon rainfall, approximately ten times higher than usual, resulting in flash floods and landslides, across the country. The floods have affected approximately 30 million people.

SRC Secretary General/CEO Mr Benjamin William said, "The climate catastrophe in Pakistan has caused almost a thousand fatalities, including children; and displaced over 3.1 million. The increased risks of water-borne diseases, and the lack of clean water and proper shelter, would put a further strain on Pakistan's health system. We are extending humanitarian aid to support Pakistani communities to cope with the worsening weather events, and we hope everyone in Singapore will support our relief efforts."

In response to the ravaging floods in Pakistan, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) had earlier committed SGD$50,000 to provide immediate relief aid in support of the affected communities. SRC's contributions will directly support the humanitarian response by Red Cross Red Crescent partners on the ground.
