Our Campaign Storyends 23 Oct 2021, 11:59 PM
As the campaign title stated above, doctors-on-wheels is a way that SATA CommHealth is able to rise while helping the less fortunate elderlies.
Consisting of nurses and doctor travelling across the nation, they provide elderlies who need urgent medical treatment at highly subsidised or no cost.
The amount of donations that is given by you, will be used to fund this programmes as well as other programmes that are able to assist the less fortunate as well as the elderlies.
Let's all rise together, while providing others.
A lot of elderly find challenges to go to GP clinics for their medical needs and some of them face financial difficulties to pay for doctors' consultations and medication. Because of this, their conditions deteriorate, leaving them in a dire situation.
Our Doctors-On-Wheels (DOW) programme, started since 2007, is a community initiative that provides free and subsidised treatment to needy elderly beneficiaries living in 1, 2 and 3-room HDB flats.
The DOW Team, which consists of a doctor and nurses, travel from a specially equipped van, which brings the necessary equipment and medication to different parts of Singapore, where these beneficiaries reside.
The DOW programme operates every week, travelling to Senior Activity Centres to treat acute and chronic ailments, as well as provide some health education to the needy elderly in the community.
SATA CommHealth is a registered charity healthcare organisation and has been actively involved in providing medical assistance to needy households, especially seniors and the vulnerable in the community.
We are extending our medical service to as many elderly and needy as we can, of which the costs are absorbed via our revenues from medical centres, as well as donation funds by kind donors.
Your donations will be used to fund this programme as well as other SATA CommHealth's programmes for the needy and seniors.
About The Charity
SATA CommHealth was established in 1947. As an IPC charity, we are Here To Care for the health of seniors and the vulnerable in the community. We serve around 200,000 patients in the medical centres every year, and the proceeds are channelled to help fund our community services. Our beneficiaries are served through community events, subsidised care at our medical centres as well as home and centre-based services which include homecare, doctors-on-wheels, day rehabilitation centres and Fernvale Community Hub. We were awarded the Charity Governance Award (Large Charities category) in 2018. For three consecutive years, we were also awarded the Charity Transparency Award by the Charity Council for its exemplary disclosure practices. We continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting MOH and community partners, in various areas such as providing vaccinations via our Mobile Vaccination Teams and Vaccination Centre, administering ART and PCR swabs and managing patients in our Public Health Preparedness Clinics.
