Fresh Food Truck Project
About Campaignends 31 Jan 2016, 12 AM
Food Bank Singapore is raising funds for our Food Truck Project. Our objective is to reduce food wastage by collecting excess fresh food and redistributing them to the needy in Singapore through a fresh food truck. We aim to set up a fully equipped mobile fresh food truck to assist with the redistribution. We are hoping to get a funding of $130,000 to purchase a chiller truck and convert it to a fully equipped fresh food pantry.
1. To make fresh food easily available to the underprivileged
2. To provide the underprivileged with better food so that they can perform better at work/school and in turn create better lives for themselves.
3. To educate and spread the word on healthy eating.
The Food Bank Singapore acquires donated food from farms, manufacturers, distributors, retail stores, consumers, and other sources, and makes it available to those in need through a network of member beneficiaries. The Food Bank Singapore was set up by Nichol and Nicholas Ng, a pair of siblings running a food distribution business, FoodXervices Inc Pte Ltd. After observing the food industry for more than a decade, they realised the need for a food bank in Singapore. Founded in 2012, we were given charity status in 2012 and IPC status in 2015. Our vision is to be the prevailing centralised coordinating organisation for all food donations and to play a key role in the reduction of food wastage within the whole supply chain. We now have a total of 150 member beneficiaries that includes: Family service centres (FSCs) Various types of homes Soup kitchens Other voluntary welfare organizations (VWOs)
