Our Campaign Story

ends 23 Feb 2020, 11:59 PM

As a breast cancer survivor, more than anything else, I believe in the importance of continuous research to advance treatment options and explore new avenues of cure and betterment of the quality of life of cancer patients and survivors.

This is something close to my heart, and I want to do my bit best to give back to cause.

About Campaign

The Women vs Cancer campaign was launched by the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) to raise awareness and funds for patient care programmes and vital cancer research into women-related cancers.

Women vs Cancer will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month by raising funds for breast cancer research.

Breast Cancer is the commonest and deadliest complex disease that afflicts Singaporean women. Based on the latest cancer registry report released in 2017, it was estimated that 1 in 14 women in Singapore will develop the condition before the age of 75.

It creates a huge socioeconomic impact by affecting women in their economically productive years, disrupting childcare and daily function as a family unit where women are traditionally the lynchpin. To add, breast cancer incidences have increased by 3-fold in the past 4 decades.

This underscores the importance of advancing breast cancer research to allow clinicians and scientists to innovate and improve breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, detection and prevention.

About The Charity

Established in 2005, the NCC Research Fund supports innovative research to find the breakthroughs that will change how we understand, diagnose, treat and ultimately cure cancer.

With cancer research and care under one roof at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, the knowledge gained from patient-centric research fuels advancement in clinical care, which in turn provides knowledge that drives research. We firmly believe that today's research will pave the way for tomorrow's cure for cancer.

Please note that in the event that the donations made for a specific purpose/project:
(i) Are less than the minimum $10,000 to support an existing project OR
(ii) Has no new applicable project after a 2-year waiting period, the NCC Research Fund Board of Trustees reserves the right to channel these donations to the Fund's general pool in support of other worthy research projects.

Please note that donations must be made before 15 December for processing and be included in time for tax assessment in the same year.
