A Big THANK YOU to all who have been supporting us and giving generously in our 1st & 2nd "Giving the Elderly a New Home" fundraising campaign for St John's Home from Jun 2019 to 30 Aug 2020. We had raised $49,599 with your love and support.
We would like to raise another $50,401 to achieve total of $100,000 by Dec 2020 especially in this challenging Year 2020.
We believe in "Give what you want" and in this period, we urge everyone to be united to create a LOVE cycle to continue to give within your means and to give happily with love to fulfill the dreams of the seniors. We can create and change our environment by starting from ourselves.
There will be NO TRANSACTION FEES from 1 January 2020 to 31 March 2021. Therefore, 100% of your donations will go to charities listed here.
About The Charity
Established in Dec 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60.
Our Mission is to provide shelter and care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of elderly persons who have no home and no children or close relatives with adequate resources to care for them.
The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed.
We are not a government-subvented Home and depend largely on the public's generosity to enable us to continue our work as a Registered Charity.
Since the Home started operations in December 1958, we have been located at our present site at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. In 2015, the Government granted us a fresh 30-year lease on a reduced land area. Concurrently, we also entered into a three-plus-three year tenancy agreement on the land that we are currently occupying.
We are now building a new five-storey building on the 30-year lease land to maximise on the plot ratio of 1.4 prescribed for the land. When we move into the new building, we shall increase our licensed capacity to 150. Construction began in Nov 2018, with target completion in Mar 2021.
We appeal for your support of building a new Home, so our elderly residents will not be displaced. Please donate generously. Thank you.
The Home is a recipient of the President's Award for Philanthropy 2014, the Charity Transparency Award 2019, 2018, Community in Bloom Award 2018, 2016, 2014.
